Requirements

We do not offer free tests unconditionally at DNA shows and no longer offer free Y37 scholarships.

If funds are available, the project *may* award a full Y111 cost-splitting (roughly 50-50) scholarship to an eligible man if his paternal line ancestry is from a project region of interest, he can meet rigorous documentation requirements proving his ancestry back to the late 18th century/early 19th century or earlier, and he is willing to follow project procedures to obtain the scholarship. The award recipient would thus obtain a full Y111 marker test for roughly the cost of the Y37 test.

At the present time, our paternal line origin geographic regions of interest are: The province of Munster in Ireland; Shropshire in the West Midlands, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset in Southwest England, Norfolk and Suffolk in Essex (East Anglia).

Our project email list is for those interested in Collins Y DNA. The name is ubiquitous in the British Isles and its diaspora and there are many different genetic origins. If you'd like to be kept informed of Y DNA test sale opportunities and Collins yDNA project news, contact the project administrator and you'll be placed on the list.
