Requirements

We do not offer free tests unconditionally at DNA shows and no longer free Y37 scholarships.

The project has the funds to offer one Y111 cost-splitting scholarship (roughly 50-50) during a Y test sale in 2018. The eligible man must meet rigorous documentation requirements and must be willing to be an active project participant and follow project procedures for obtaining such a scholarship. The award recipient would thus obtain a full Y111 marker test for roughly the cost of the Y37 test. Men named Driscoll (or spelling variant) who can prove a paternal line origin back to a specific location (townland or village) in Ireland before the famine are eligible. Men with old west Cork paternal line ancestral origins and named Cadogan, Doolin, Finn, Fuhill, Gosnell, McKennedy, Minihane, or Whooley are also eligible under the same conditions.

Our project mailing list is for our active project participants as well as serious Driscoll researchers and DNA enthusiasts. If you'd like to chat with other researchers, receive notifications of Y test sales, and stay informed on Driscoll yDNA developments, you are welcome to join our project email list.
